The former Swindon Town manager has returned to the Causeway after quitting the club one year ago.
"The time spent here last season was very enjoyable and to get the opportunity to return is wonderful," he said.
Gorman was appointed caretaker boss following the sacking of Lawrie Sanchez. He was a popular choice among supporters to get the job permanently, but as a man of principle he left shortly after the board appointed Tony Adams as manager.
Gorman who was in charge of Swindon while the club was in the top flight for the 1993/4 season, assisted Glenn Hoddle in a number of roles including the England national team. The Scot believes he may have been able to sway the board 12 months ago if he had not been aware of Hoddle being on the verge of a return to Southampton, following his sacking at Tottenham.
"If Glenn turned around again and said there was a big job then I probably would still be interested, but Wycombe has whetted my appetite towards being my own boss again," he added.
Gorman took temporary charge for one Wycombe game last year, ironically against Swindon in the FA Cup first round, a tie Wycombe won comfortably.
Since Adams walked out on the club three weeks ago, Wycombe have maintained a 100% record in three matches. The new management set up sees Gorman joined by former Chairboy Steve Brown, and midfielder Keith Ryan.
Ryan stood down as player caretaker boss after earning maximum league points from two games in charge, which took the club up to 12th place in League Two, a point behind the play-off places.
"Keith has shown what he can do and, along with Gary Smith, has done a great job," said Gorman. "It’s now up to me to get everyone moving in the same direction and build on the good work already put in place."
