An achilles injury cut short a loan spell at Championship side Stoke City earlier in the season. Guppy who will move his career to the States next year, watched several Wycombe games from the stands whilst he recovered. The veteran trained with the other players last week but wasn’t fit in time to face Leyton Orient.
On teaming up again with youth team manager Gary Smith and caretaker player boss Keith Ryan, Guppy said, "It’s a great opportunity to help them out."
"It looks like a young squad has been formed here and maybe my experience can help them," he added.
Guppy is expected to start in Wycombe’s League Two game against Bristol Rovers at the Causeway tomorrow. That spectacle is likely to precede the appointment of a new club manager on Monday.
It has been widely speculated that former Bristol City manager Danny Wilson will attend Saturday’s game before being unveiled as the new boss ahead of Tuesday night’s LDV Vans quarter-final tie at the Memorial Stadium.
