Mooney

Last week we broke the news to you Tommy Mooney had departed from Wycombe Wanderers in search of a new club to ply his trade, that was that we thought until the scathing attack on the club, written up in fridays Bucks Free Press. As I presume you have all read the article I will cut it short, but basically Mooney has blamed the club for making a statement to the press that he wanted to leave because we could not offer him first team football. Thats all well and good and he may not have demanded that but in further talks from Mooney he went on to attack the club over the departure of 4 coaches and warned Wycombe that they are on a very slippery slope by doing that and they may fail. The most painful attack came in the way of Mooney attacking the clubs new signings. He claimed the club have signed only 2 players they actually wanted from there shortlist in Bullock and Sherarer and all of the rest are second rate and not actually wanted initially by the management.
All this to fellow Wanderers fans seems a stark reminder to the warnings we were given about Mooney when he signed from near neighbours Oxford. We were warned by Swindon and Oxford fans that Mooney is unpredictable and can be very forthright with his views off the field. Us as Wanderers fans had not seen this side to Mooney in his marvellous 2 years as a player where he led us to a great cup run and some wonderful performances on the hallowed turf at Adams Park. Now we have seen a side to Tommy that none of us wanted to see, all the fans at Adams Park wanted him to stay and fight for his place, but when he decided to leave we all sort of understood his reasonings and would have loved to have him depart quietly. But that was not the case and it has left a very painful mark on a man that did bring good times over the last 2 years. As a player there is no doubt he had ability, as a man it is questionable as to whether he is great or just a wind up merchant. All the talk from Mooney has left Wanderers fans feeling downhearted and they will be baying for his blood when he returns next season for an opposition side. A great shame when we think what he could have been remembered by to Wycombe fans.
The next stop for Mooney is still up in the air but again in a never heard before exclusive we can reveal he is looking for a club in the Nottingham area as it is within travelling distance from his home in Solihull and he is set to have talks with league 2 strugglers Mansfield Town. If thats fails it has been reported elsewhere he is keen to talk to london side Brentford over a possible move after the club lost striker Lloyd Owosu earlier this week. All we know is that when push comes to shove, we hope it will be Wycombe who will be able to ram his comments back down where they came from, when he steps out in an opposition jersey at Adams Park again.
Tomorrow we will reveal the new terms of the sponsorship deal for the clubs new shirt and run down a list of potential apllicants for the new captains armband!
