The 27-year-old recently underwent a scan on the injury he picked up in the 1-0 win over Rotherham on January 22 which has revealed the full extent of the problem.
Sandell has been a regular in the Wanderers side this season since joining from Aldershot in the summer, making 29 appearances and weighing in with seven goals.
