Scott Rendell scored a second-half winner after missing a golden opportunity to score earlier in the match.
Waddock said: "To get a result like we did today was very pleasing I have to say.
"I don't like singling out players at all. It's about a squad and it's a happy bunch of players in the dressing room.
"They're a very good side and Alan (Knill) has done an excellent job assembling that group of players. They're on a run of games away from home and you can see why they've picked up so many results.
"I'm pleased that we were able to stop that, pleased that we got the three points but come the end of the season they'll be right up there."
