The Us eased into a two-goal lead through Alfie Potter and an own goal from Dave Winfield before Scott Rendell and Jon-Paul Pittman salvaged a point for the Chairboys.
Waddock said: "We changed it around in the second half and Scott Donnelly coming on made a big difference. Jon-Paul Pittman was excellent. He's had to wait and wait and wait for his chance.
"You know what he's about - frightening pace, and he's a good finisher as well. I've lost count of the number of times this season our goalkeeper Nikki Bull has made top-class saves and he did it again.
"The players never gave up and they showed, both as individuals and as a group, a lot of qualities. To come back the way we did was fantastic. Our performance tells you everything about the group. We're together as a group.
"Our fans were absolutely brilliant as well. Even when we were two down they got right behind us and knew the players hadn't given up. It was good value for money for an outstanding football match."
