Deane Smalley, a Danny Whitaker penalty and Jack Lester put Chesterfield into a commanding position before Jon-Paul Pittman`s consolation was cancelled out by Craig Davies, leaving the Chairboys nine points off their title rivals in second place.
Waddock said: "Give great credit to Chesterfield. They thoroughly deserved to win. We didn't turn up - didn't compete.
"They were head and shoulders above us and we never looked like stopping them playing.
"We knew they would come out with all guns blazing after losing at home last weekend but we didn't come up with the right response and the game just went by us.
"As far as the title is concerned, Chesterfield should go on and win it and we will have to play a lot better if we are going to stay in contention."
