Paul Connor grabbed a priceless early goal from Orient as they climbed above Wycombe in the promotion race.

It was Connor's fourth goal in 9 starts since his £40,000 move from Swansea and it was enough to condemn Wycombe to only their 6th league defeat of the season.

The visitors started welll & defender Roger Jonson had a glorious chance after just 35 seconnds but chipped an effort over the bar.

However the defining moment arrived after just eight minutes when a slick Orient move down the right ended with Justin Miler sending in a teasing cross. Striker Gary Alexander saw his shot blocked but the ball fell kindly for Connor to stroke home passed Frank Talia into the far corner.

Wycombe responded well to the set back and, inspired by veteran Rob Lee they took a vice like grip of the game.

But for all their pressure they struggled to find a way through the resolute home defence.

As Wycombe turned the screw Orient Gaol keeper Glen Morris did well to keep out an effort from Matt Bloomfield and the Wycombe player then headed over as they pressed for a leveller.

In the 2nd half Wycombe continued to dominate but again failed to create too many clear cut openings.

Danny Senda fired a free kick inches wide but Orient slowly forced their way back into the contest and created the cleaner chances on the break.

Craig Easton twice tested Talia as Orient finally gained a sense of control they won their 1st corner on 76mins.

As the game progressed the home side looked the most likely to increase their advantage. Joe Keith lobbed over from the edge of the area top scorer Gary Alexander was just inches away from sliding home Matt Lockwoood's cross. As Wycombe's grand stand finish failed to materialise.
