Dons edge seven-goal thriller
Dean Bowditch scored twice as MK Dons edged a thrilling Buckinghamshire derby against Wycombe 4-3 to secure a fifth straight win.
Goals from Stuart Beavon and debutant Marcello Trotta had put Wycombe 2-1 up after Bowditch's early opener. But second-half strikes from Bowditch, Jabo Ibehre and Mathias Doumbe fired the Dons into a 4-2 lead before Beavon's late consolation for the struggling Chairboys, who are now without a win in seven games.
Visiting skipper Dave Winfield had a header saved on the line by David Martin before Bowditch put the Dons ahead from a swift counter-attack after 14 minutes, cutting inside to curl a fine finish past Nikki Bull. The Dons should have doubled their lead but Ibehre was twice denied when one-on-one with Bull and Luke Chadwick missed an open goal.
Wycombe then seized control and scored twice in as many minutes shortly after the break, Beavon lashing home from the edge of the box before on-loan Fulham teenager Trotta beat Martin when he was through one-on-one.
But the shell-shocked Dons turned on the style in the closing stages and scored three times in 16 minutes to race into a 4-2 lead. Bowditch slotted the equaliser from close range to complete his brace and Ibehre's neat turn and finish put them 3-2 up before Doumbe headed home Stephen Gleeson's corner in the 71st minute.
Beavon blasted in another long-range strike at the death but it was too little, too late.
