Promotion-chasing Wycombe and Notts County could not be separated as they had to settle for a goalless draw in a lively game at Adams Park.
Both teams created chances to win the game but a mix of poor finishing and majestic goalkeeping kept the game 0-0. If anything Wycombe should have come away with the three points after three glorious chances in the first half.
Their stuttering home form is now becoming a problem and they have not won at Adams Park in their last five attempts. County on the other hand will be satisfied with a hard-earned point.
What had been a dour game sparked into life with a real bang just before the half hour, with those gilt-edged chances for the home-side.
Firstly Tommy Mooney made a complete mess of a free header from ten yards out after a superb Stefan Oakes free kick. Just a minute later the evergreen Mooney robbed Mike Edwards of the ball and powered towards goal, squared to Jermaine Easter whose shot was well saved from all of eight yards.
Notts County must have thought it was their day when Matt Bloomfield missed another sitter moments later. Russell Martin just toe-poked the ball through to the midfielder, one on one and with all the time in the world he shot straight at Pilkington.
County could have led at half time, but veteran striker Jason Lee couldn't hit the target with his diving header in stoppage time.
County came out for the second half with more intent and their hustle and bustle nearly paid off. Andy Parkinson's precise cross found David Pipe who fired a thunderous volley at goal, Jamie Young somehow getting his fingertips on it to tip over.
It was a wake-up call for the Chairboys and Mooney then had a decent chance at the other end, but he fired wide again.
Both teams continued to chase for the winner, but neither could carve out a clear enough chance with players on either side reduced to long shots.
