Bristol Rovers enhanced their play-off credentials with a deserved 3-1 victory at early season pace-setters Wycombe Wanderers at a windswept Causeway Stadium.
The Pirates stole the points thanks to a brace from Junior Agogo and a penalty from former Wycombe hit-man Richard Walker.
The hosts, celebrating midfielder Rob Lee's 700th league appearance, started very brightly with a glorious move giving Charlie Griffin the chance to rifle a shot which hit both posts before falling into the grateful arms of keeper Scott Shearer.
Rovers responded well and Walker managed to make a hash of a clear opportunity a minute later having been fed by James Hunt.
The opening goal came just after the half hour with Agogo latching on to a long ball which had been misjudged by Mike Williamson and he finished clinically past Frank Talia.
The half finished in controversy as Wycombe felt they had equalised as Matt Bloomfield fired in a shot from just outside the area which Shearer fumbled. The ball seemed to cross the line but referee Lewis waved away the appeals of the home side.
Just eight minutes into the second half the visitors made their dominance count with a second goal which came when Williamson brought down Craig Disley and Walker bit the hand that used to feed him by ramming the penalty home.
This served to give Rovers more confidence and their beguiling midfield play set up opportunities for both Walker and Disley which Talia was equal to. With 16 minutes remaining Agogo, the conductor of the Rovers orchestra, latched onto a long pass and rounded Talia before finishing comfortably.
Wycombe's consolation came from £80,000 deadline day signing Jermaine Easter with his first goal for the club, but it was far too little too late for the early season champions.
