Jermaine Easter's early strike was enough to give Wycombe a deserved win against Darlington.
The pacy striker scored after just three minutes in a game that somehow remained goalless after the winning effort.
Darlington, unbeaten in the league since October 6, pushed for an equaliser late on, but were, in truth outclassed by the Chairboys for most of the game.
Wycombe had decent chances throughout the game to add to their lead, and Darlington could have scored themselves, with both keepers putting in decent performances.
The first half was all about the home side's domination and Wycombe started the game like a team with a point to prove and intent on scoring early.
Stefan Oakes' rasping left-foot volley almost did the trick, only for David Stockdale to tip over, with a barely a minute gone.
Wycombe got what they clearly wanted minutes later though, Easter bundling home a Kevin Betsy cross after Darlington failed to clear.
Darlington continued to look dazed, the next effort to test the away side wasn't a neat build-up and shot though, but a 45-yard blast from Tommy Mooney who cleverly saw Stockdale off his line. It looked in all the way, but to the veteran striker's disappointment it just landed wide.
A brief spell of Darlington possession didn't last long and Oakes should have done much better with a free-kick on the very edge of the box. The midfielder blasting his effort straight at the wall.
With 37 minutes gone the Quakers finally registered a shot on target, Neil Wainwright cut inside Oakes well before dragging his left-foot shot wide.
It was Wycombe that still looked like scoring though and Matt Bloomfield should have done so with five minutes to go to half-time.
He was cleverly played in by Betsy who held the ball up well before flicking it into Bloomfield's path, but his effort was tipped wide.
From the resulting corner though, another chance was spurned as Will Antwi volleyed over from just five yards.
Darlington almost stole a goal on the stroke of half-time though, but Julian Joachim's header was blasted off the line by Antwi.
Darlington must have had some stern words from boss Dave Penney at the break as they looked to make a game of it in the second half. Alun Armstrong, with a decent chance early on, couldn't hit the target from a tight angle.
And the Quakers thought they should have had a penalty just after when Mike Williamson took the ball down on his chest in the box.
Substitute Ian Stonebridge should have given his team a two-goal cushion on 56 minutes though. Darlington again failed to deal with a long ball but Stonebridge fired into the side-netting when one-on-one with Stockdale.
Things went a little quiet for both teams from there, with most of the game being scrapped out in the middle and a succession of niggling fouls.
From nowhere though Darlington had two of the best chances they could have wished for, 20 minutes from time.
Martin Smith finally beat his man down the left and found Clark Keltie at the back post, but his first shot from ten yards was well-saved by Jamie Young and, from the follow-up, a wall of Wycombe defenders somehow kept the ball out of the goal.
It was what the game needed and minutes after Mooney almost scored with a cross-shot that skimmed the bar from an acute angle.
Patrick Collins then should have done much better from a Smith set-piece, but he missed his header all together from ten yards.
The see-saw of chances continued, Betsy stealing onto a Mooney flick. He got himself half a yard and squared for Stonebridge, whose side-footed shot was smartly saved.
Darlington rallied for an equaliser late on, but Wycombe defended resolutely and kept them at bay well.
